The Rise of Sivagami - Anand Neelkanthan

Baahubali franchise of movies is undoubtedly the greatest ever in Indian Cinema and the story was very intriguing indeed. This motivated me to pick up this book penned by Anand Neelkanthan whose books I had read and loved. The rise of Sivagami, the Queen mother of Mahishmati empire is a story worth a read. This is the first book in the trilogy.

The story is beautifully weaved and depicts the journey of not just Sivagami an orphan but also of Kattappa, his brother Shivappa, their father Malayappa, Prince Bijjala, his brother Mahadeva, Mahapradhana Skandadasa, Shivappas lover Kamakshi, an orphan Gundu Ramu (cutest character) and eunuch Brihannalla. The book portrays all the characters beautifully with every single character having their own trait.

The book is fast paced and very gripping tale. The thrills of the book are real nail biting experiences. The description by Anand Neelkanthan is as usual amazing and you can actually visualise the scenes. The climax of the book is power packed and very fast. A totally awesome book which I've thoroughly enjoyed and now I am waiting for the second installment in the series.

A great read for me.
