Diana - Her True Story in her own words by Andrew Mortan

Diana - The most beautiful lady and Princess of Wales was all I knew when she died in the year 1998. Later on threw bits and pieces I came to know the humanitarian side of her personality which was very impressive. And now with her 20th death anniversary a lot of documentaries were released. I had to read her true story. The timing was just perfect.

The book is beautifully divided into three parts viz, first part is the narration of her life events starting from her childhood, to her marriage, her bulimia problem, her husband's infidelity and her sons as per her interview. The second part details on her development from a naive and shy girl next door to the Humanitarian embassador while her personal life was under turmoil. Third part reveals the aftermath of her death.

It's ironical that lots of negativity surrounded her while she was alive but many accolades were given to her posthumously. The third part where both Prince William and Prince Harry speak about their mother is really heart wrenching. It's also astonishing that Princess Diana had psychic abilities and whatever she predicted about herself actually happened. It's equally sad that she left the world when she was in the happiest space. It's a very inspiring tale of a lady who fought against all odds and made a name for herself.

The book leaves you wondering would things have been different had she been alive. Would she still have been humanitarian ambassador had Prince Charles understood her worth, loved her, guided her and cherished her being. Had he not married her under the pressure, this story wouldn't have been as it is.

A wonderful book and a recommended read for all the history lovers. I absolutely loved it and would read it again.
